BRIEF ITINERARY

Day 1, CAIRO: Arrive and transfer to the Sofitel Hotel, in close proximity to the Pyramids.

Day 2, CAIRO: Morning guided tour of the Pyramids & Sphinx at Giza. Later we visit the Step Pyramid at Saqqara as well as Memphis, the ancient capital of Lower Egypt. (BD)

Day 3, CAIRO: A full day tour. We see the treasures of the Egyptian Museum and visit the Citadel with its commanding views over Cairo. This afternoon we travel through the Nile Delta to Alexandria on the Mediterranean. We stay in the Windsor Hotel, a lovely old colonial building situated on the shores of the Mediterranean. (BD)

Day 4, ALEXANDRIA: Visit the National Museum and the catacombs of Kom al Shuqafa as well as Pompey's Pillar. In the late afternoon we drive back to Cairo where we board the overnight sleeper train to Aswan. (BD )

Day 5, ASWAN: Arrive early in Aswan and transfer to the comfortable Basma Hotel, situated on a hilltop with panoramic views over the Nile. Later in the afternoon we take a boat ride to the Temple of Isis on Philae Island. (BD)

Day 6, ASWAN: An early morning flight takes us to the magnificent temple of Abu Simbel. There is then time to relax by the hotel pool before taking a sunset felucca cruise around the beautiful islands of the Nile. (BD)

Day 7, NILE CRUISE: We board our luxury Nile cruise boat in time for lunch. The rest of the afternoon is then free to explore the bazaars of Aswan. (BLD)

Day 8, NILE CRUISE: Watch the world drift by from on board our boat. There is always something to see, whether it is donkeys working in the fields or children playing in the water on the edge of the river. We stop to visit the riverside temple of Kom Ombo. (BLD)

Day 9, NILE CRUISE - LUXOR: Continue sailing along the Nile to Luxor, stopping along the way to visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu. (BLD)

Day 10, LUXOR: Rise early to visit the amazing tombs at the Valley of the Kings. We also visit Hatshepsut’s temple, the Workers’ Village and the amazing Colossi of Memnon before we return to Luxor. The afternoon is free. Tonight we stay in the Sonesta Hotel on the banks of the Nile. (BD)

Day 11, LUXOR: In the morning we take horse drawn carriages along the riverfront to the magnificent Karnak Temple, where we have a guided tour around the site. The rest of the day is free. Overnight in Luxor. (BD)

Day 12, LUXOR - CAIRO: A morning flight back to Cairo. A free day for you to discover more of this amazing city. You can visit the bustling bazaars of Khan el Khalili, revisit the magnificent Pyramids or discover further treasures in Cairo’s museum. Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner aboard a boat on the Nile with traditional entertainment. (BD)

Day 13, CAIRO: Our tour ends this morning with a transfer from the hotel to the airport for your flight home. (B)
